Terms of Service
Last updated: October 22, 2026
Welcome to ptchat.org (“the Site”, “we”, “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) set the rules for using the Site. By creating an account or using the Site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.
1. Who runs the Site
The Site is a free, non-commercial online community operated by a private individual, Vitor “Teh PeGaSuS” Luis, based in France. You can contact us at support@ptchat.org.
2. Who can use the Site
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- You may hold only one account. Creating additional accounts, or creating a new account to get around a suspension or ban, is not allowed.
- You must give a valid email address that you control, and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised.
3. Your content
3.1 You own what you post
You keep all rights to the content you post on the Site, including posts, comments, polls, messages, and group content.
3.2 Permission you give us
To run the Site, we need your permission to store, display, and distribute your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, and display your content only for the purpose of operating the Site and showing it to the audience you chose (for example, the public, your friends, a group, or the recipients of a message).
This license ends when you delete the content or your account. Copies may persist in backups for up to 30 days, as described in our Privacy Policy. Content other users have already quoted or replied to may still show their own words.
3.3 You are responsible for your content
You are responsible for what you post. Only post content you have the right to share, and make sure it does not infringe anyone else’s rights, including copyright, trademark, privacy, or image rights.
4. Community rules
When using the Site, you must not post, share, or do any of the following:
- Illegal content or activity, including anything that breaks French or EU law.
- Harassment, threats, or bullying, including targeting someone repeatedly, encouraging others to harass them, or publishing someone’s private information (doxxing).
- Hate speech: attacking people based on origin, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
- Sexual or pornographic content (NSFW), including in profile pictures, groups, and private messages. Any sexual content involving minors is strictly forbidden and will be reported to the authorities.
- Spam: repetitive, unsolicited, or off-topic messages, including mass private messages.
- Advertising and self-promotion: commercial promotion, affiliate links, or soliciting users for products or services, unless an administrator explicitly allows it.
- Impersonation: pretending to be another person, another user, or a member of the Site’s staff.
- Bots and automation: automated accounts, scripts, or scraping or bulk downloading of the Site, unless an administrator gives prior written permission.
- Multiple accounts or ban evasion (see section 2).
- Malware, phishing, or deceptive links, or attempts to break into, overload, or disrupt the Site, other accounts, or our servers.
These rules apply everywhere on the Site, including groups and private messages. Group owners and group moderators may set additional rules for their groups, but those rules cannot override these Terms.
5. Moderation
5.1 How we enforce the rules
We use a warn-first approach. If you break these Terms, we will usually:
- remove the offending content, if necessary, and warn you, explaining which rule was broken;
- temporarily suspend your account if the problem continues;
- permanently ban your account if it still continues.
For serious violations we may skip the warning and suspend or ban an account immediately. These include:
- illegal content
- sexual content involving minors
- credible threats of violence
- doxxing
- malware or phishing
- spam bots
- ban evasion
5.2 Reporting content
If you see content that breaks these Terms or the law, report it using the Site’s report feature or by emailing support@ptchat.org. To report illegal content, include:
- where the content is (a link)
- why you believe it is illegal
- your name and email, unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material
We review reports promptly and act on them as needed.
5.3 Our decisions and your right to contest them
When we remove your content or restrict your account, we will tell you what we did and why, unless doing so is prohibited by law or would put someone at risk. If you think we made a mistake, reply to the notice or email support@ptchat.org and we will review the decision.
6. Private messages
Private messages are for private conversations between users. They must follow the same rules as the rest of the Site. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Administrators only access them when needed to handle a report, investigate abuse, or comply with the law (see our Privacy Policy).
7. Third-party content
The GIF feature is provided by GIPHY. GIFs are served by GIPHY and are subject to GIPHY’s own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for content hosted by third parties or for websites linked from the Site.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your profile and your content from the Site, as described in our Privacy Policy. This cannot be undone.
We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these Terms (see section 5), or one that has been inactive for a long time after notifying its email address.
9. The Site is provided “as is”
The Site is a free, volunteer-run service. We do our best to keep it running and secure, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available, error-free, or that data will never be lost. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any feature, or the Site itself, at any time. If we plan to close the Site, we will try to give users reasonable notice so they can save their content.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- indirect damages
- loss of data
- content posted by other users
- interruptions of the Site
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under French law, such as liability for gross negligence or intentional misconduct. Nothing in these Terms affects the rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country of residence.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above. For significant changes, we will notify registered users through the Site or by email before the changes take effect. If you keep using the Site after that, you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t accept them, you can delete your account.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law. If a dispute arises, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. If that fails, the dispute will be brought before the competent French courts, subject to any mandatory rules that let consumers sue in the courts of their own country.
13. Contact
For any question about these Terms, contact Vitor “Teh PeGaSuS” Luis at support@ptchat.org.
